Real estate has been a passion of mine for as long as I can remember. Transactions let me use both sides of my brain—blending creativity with analytical thinking. Being able to sell homes in Sandbridge is a dream come true, because Sandbridge is my home, and many of these homes are part of my story.
I grew up in Sandbridge back in the ’70s and ’80s, when things were much different—but in many ways, it was still the same quiet and beautiful beach town it is today. Long before I entered the picture, my mother and her parents would come here each summer to escape the hustle and bustle of town to find relief from the inland heat. Back then, Sandbridge was a difficult place to find. It was a hidden jewel, a slice of heaven—a place to slow down, play in the surf, and soak up the sun.
One year, after a long winter, my grandparents loaded the family for the first sandbridge trip of the season. When they reached the end of that familiar winding road, they noticed something unexpected to the north: three small beach cottages under construction. Curious, they went to take a closer look and discovered the bungalows were for sale. They also happen to find a man with the power to negotiate the sale of one of these homes. Without hesitation, they put down a $100 deposit on what would become one of the first three houses ever built in Sandbridge. In that moment, Sandbridge became more than just a place to visit. It became a place they never wanted to leave.
Because the area was so isolated, my family quickly recognized the need for basic provisions, which led them to build the Sandbridge Market. That grocery store became the center of my childhood. I spent countless hours there—bagging groceries, stocking shelves, and seeing the same familiar faces day after day. When I was free to explore, life revolved around the beach: surfing, skateboarding, riding bikes…always barefoot and mostly without a care in the world.
Winters were quiet. The town would empty out, leaving just a handful of locals. It wasn’t uncommon to find neighborhood kids playing football in what’s now the store parking lot or chasing each other through sprawling games of tag that stretched far beyond any sensible boundary. Many of us had dogs and they too enjoyed the same freedom to run free. Those years gave me a deep appreciation for the small-town coastal lifestyle and the unique character of Sandbridge.
After college, I started spending winters in Colorado and summers here at the beach. It was there in Colorado, I started my own family and had two sons, Samson and Leo. Following my parents’ entrepreneurial footsteps, I ran several businesses, including a UPS store, a pizzeria-style bar and restaurant, a real estate brokerage, and multiple home-buying and selling projects. Although I earned my real estate license more than 30 years ago here in Virginia, it was in Colorado where I truly put it to work. Partnering with a high-end ranch broker taught me how to manage complex deals, negotiate effectively, and think on my feet. That’s when I realized I loved the business of real estate too—every transaction is different and requires creativity and adaptability.
I returned to Sandbridge full time in 2016. My family was still here, and this place had always been home. My boys, then 5 and 7, also began spending their entire summers with me, and watching them experience Sandbridge felt like coming full circle.
It didn’t take long to realize that real estate was the right path forward in the town I love. That realization led to the creation of Sandbridge Coastal Real Estate, with the goal of becoming the go-to name for buyers and sellers in the area. I serve the community I know best, with a deep understanding of local homes, the history, and what makes each potential deal unique. Many clients come from out of town looking for second homes or investment properties, and my firsthand knowledge helps guide them—whether it’s rental potential, location, or simply understanding how Sandbridge works.
Having owned several businesses over the years, I stay calm under pressure and focus on finding solutions. More than anything, I aim to make processes efficient and as relaxed and stress-free as possible. Helping others find a place they love in the town that shaped my life once again feels like coming full circle.
Outside of work, I enjoy the beach lifestyle including surfing, walking the shoreline, and simply sitting by the ocean. I also love traveling to Colorado to snowboard, hike, road trip, and most importantly, spend time with my boys.
Many of the people I work with are not local, so clear and consistent communication is essential to a smooth transaction. I act as the boots on the ground—meeting contractors, letting in inspectors, checking the property, and making sure everything is in order. If furniture needs moving, trash needs pickup, or sand needs blowing off the driveway, I won't hesitate to roll up my sleeves and handle it myself if need be.
For buyers, particularly investors, I help obtain rental income history as well as rental income projections. I offer honest feedback on condition and value, and highlight any repairs or updates that may be necessary. Over the years, I’ve built a network of trusted service providers for cleaning, maintenance, and repairs, removing the guesswork and saving my clients time and stress.
I take pride in structuring smart deals, negotiating strategically, and serving as a strong advocate for my clients. Every transaction comes with its challenges, but my experience, local knowledge, and hands-on approach allow me to navigate obstacles efficiently. My goal is always the same: to deliver a seamless process and a successful outcome, making buying or selling a home as smooth as possible.
Sincerely,

Chris Dennis
